Sheriff Jeff Kidwell Biography
I am the Sheriff of Campbell County Kentucky, the Chairman of the Campbell County Ky. Republican Party,
the owner of Star Computers in Newport, but most importantly, I am the Husband of Susan Kidwell and the
Father of Elizabeth Kendall (Kidwell).
I was born in Booth hospital May 12, 1964 to Jeff and Margaret Kidwell. I went through the Newport public school
system and have been a Campbell County resident my entire life. My family have been Campbell County residents
for five generations.
After high school I worked at several companies and at 20 years old became assistant general manager of a door
manufacturing company in Covington called Mid America Erectors which was a division of a very old and much
larger company; Moeschl-Edwards Co., Inc.
After leaving Mid America Erectors because they were purchased by another company, I started my first company
at the age of 23, Advanced Data Systems, Inc. as a free lance computer programmer/consultant.
I developed software for companies like USI Industrial Chemicals, Inc., Peterbuilt Trucks, United Methodist
Women's Association, Tim Hogan's Dalton Ga. Carpet Outlet and many others.
In 1992 I closed Advanced Data Systems Inc. and accepted a position with Tim Hogan's Dalton Ga. Carpet Outlet as
their Director of MIS and managed the Information Technology and Accounting segments of the 35+ store national
carpet store chain.
In 1993 I opened a new company in the Newport Shopping Plaza in partnership with Tim Hogan called Star Computers, Inc.
Star Computers is still in business today at the same location although under new management.
In 1994 I ran for office the first time for the position of Campbell County Constable District 3 which is primarilly based in the
Northern part of the county.
In 2004 I moved to Cold Spring and ran again for the position of Constable, but this time in District 1.
I was sucessful in that election and held the office of Constable for 17 years until being elected Campbell County Sheriff in 2012.
During my tenure as Campbell County Constable I was given the honor of working with many of our Campbell County police
agencies assisting with general patrol volunteering and supplementing their manpower when needed.
I had the honor of being involved with the Federal raids on the Nightclubs in Newport for drugs, prostitution etc. resulting in many
of them never re-opening. I worked with Newport Police Department when then Vice President Al Gore visited the Italianfest in
I spent days volunteering with Newport officers in Falmouth when floods devestated their community and Newport police
Department and other agencies stepped in to help our neighbors to the south.
I have had the honor of working with Wilder Police Department, maintaining their police records systems as well as working
many assisnments providing security for Campbell County citizens and businesses.
As Constable I worked closely with our court systems serving important court documents and helping our court process run
In 2000, I was elected the first time as Campbell County Republican Party vice chairman under Chairwoman Barb Haas.
I was re-elected as Vice Chairman again in 2004. I was first elected as Chairman of the Campbell County Republican
Party in 2008 and then was unanimously re-elected as Chairman in 2012. I am currently serving as Republican Chairman.
Upon taking office as GOP chairman in 2008, Republicans lagged Democrats in registrations by 3000 voters. As of
the date of this writing the Republican Party leads in registrations by almost 1000 voters for the first time in
Campbell County history.
I was recruited and served as the organizational director for the Fletcher for Governor campaign in 2003, the first Republican
Governor in Kentucky in decades.
I have served twice on the consensus committe of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce as Senator Katie Stine's
representative from the 24th district.
I successfully ran for Campbell County Sheriff in 2012 and took office on November 8th, 2012.
I have been a community leader, manager, businessman and been involved in politics and community service for the better
part of the last two decades.
Since taking office in 2012, I have increased services for Campbell County citizens while cutting costs, modernizing and
streamlinging the office and I have been recognized by the Kentucky House of Representatives for my perfomance as your Sheriff.
I would be honored if you would allow me to continue my service to Campbell County with your vote on May 20th.
